PHOTO MANIPULATION
Photo Manipulation

To the left, I have displayed the two original photos that I chose to work with using Adobe Photoshop CS4.

I removed the model from the background of the studio shot and super imposed her onto the beach scene. I also including the models shadowing onto the sand to simulate sunlight. I increased the sand for positioning and added the dramatic sky for more visual effects.

PHOTO RESTORATION

Restoring old photos can be quite challenging at times.

In many instances the pigment has faded or yellowed (small original photo) or has become damaged over time.

This photo, which happens to be of my maternal grandparents, had many of the issues I have discussed, although it seemed to be in pretty good shape over all. I did, however, have to "rebuild" the right edge of this picture and correct the crease and contrast throughout.

As with most of my art projects, I used one of my favorite tools - Adobe Photoshop CS4 with these photos also.

Photo Retouching 03

Retouching photos provided courtesy of Martin Chitae (left) and Cristi Modoran (top) of Romania on www.sxc.hu

The photo on the left has good composition, so simple retouching effects were used on the imperfections. Blending the skin tones after removing the tan line made a dramatic difference. Removing the highlights from her face gave her skin the airbrushed effect used in magazines.

Removing the background from the photo on the right, plus removing slight imperfections and adding natural skins tones made this picture really "pop".

Autodesk Photoshop CS4 was the software used on both of these photos to acheive these results.
